Lucknow: The opening session of the Metaphor Lucknow Literature Festival was inaugurated by Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak, who began his address by expressing heartfelt gratitude to the media fraternity for its continued support and presence.
Speaking fondly about the city, Pathak said that Lucknow holds a special place in his heart. Reflecting on the many transformations the city has witnessed over the years, he emphasised that despite rapid development, Lucknow has never lost its soul or cultural essence.
Highlighting the city’s unique ethos, he noted that Lucknow’s culture represents a harmonious amalgamation of festivals and traditions, while its civilisation and values remain deeply rooted. He remarked that even in moments of disagreement, the people of Lucknow maintain dignity and respect in their language—often choosing “aap” over “tum”—a reflection of the city’s refined manners.
Pathak further observed that those who contribute to development are the true strength of the city, describing Lucknow as a place marked by itminaan (calmness) and pehzeeb (grace), qualities clearly visible in everyday interactions among its people.

Tracing the city’s journey from the era of tongas to the metro, he said that while infrastructure and modes of transport have evolved, the hearts and cultural values of the people have remained unchanged.
The Deputy Chief Minister also appreciated Metaphor Lucknow for its efforts in preserving and promoting the cultural legacy of the city. Acknowledging that Lucknow is among the fastest-growing cities in terms of development and population, he noted that it continues to beautifully blend diverse cultures.
Concluding his address, Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak extended his best wishes for the success of the Metaphor Lucknow Litfest and expressed confidence that such initiatives will continue to celebrate and strengthen the city’s rich cultural heritage.
